    Despite supporting(!) him and his men through much trouble and many trials, not one of Odysseus’s 13 ships is given a name–not even the one he builds for himself to escape Calypso’s island.

    Some ships with names include Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory, Darwin’s HMS Beagle, Jason’s Argo, Captain Cook’s HMS Endeavour, Edward John Smith’s RMS Titanic and the peculiarly named galleon of Sir Francis Drake, which earned a new name while at sea, going from Pelican to Golden Hind to honor the crest of a financial patron.
